The studs get loose over time and should be checked or replaced when doing a top end overhaul. Red locktight on the stud threads.
Breeze3at. The mirrors are glued to the base at 3 points. You can heat the mirror and gently pry it off (one point at small end, two just above the ball). The ball is tensioned with 3 rivets. You can bend the tab a little, or drill the rivets & repl. with pop rivets. Then hot glue the mirror back in place.
